"We approached the task of receiving ISO certification with some sense of intimidation. Since we are a smaller company, the key people have many responsibilities, which accounts for limited amounts of time. But with the help of MEP and their Engineer, Mike Talbot, the process worked in a quick and efficient manner. The best part of working with the MEP was their Engineer's willingness to reschedule a meeting if the participants needed to complete other responsibilities. In 1995, Spring Works Utah decided to focus on the spring line products closing the stock-line automobile suspension division in the process. Since that time, Spring Works Utah's customer base has exploded making them the leading supplier of spring components to manufacturers throughout the Intermountain area. Opportunity Spring Works was recently required by one of their main customers in the automotive business to become ISO registered within a short period of time. Without this registration the automotive air bag manufacturer indicated they would be forced by their customers to change suppliers and obtain springs from an ISO registered spring manufacturer elsewhere. Spring Works Utah enlisted the help of MEP's Engineer, Mike Talbot, to help implement and prepare for registration to the ISO 9001:2000 standard. The first thing that had to be accomplished was to develop a Quality Manual, Quality Policy, and four measurable Quality Objectives. From there Spring Works was able to create all the required processes and forms necessary to comply with the ISO 9001:2000 standard. The assistance received from MEP allowed Spring Works Utah to get things organized and proceed through the process of creating and implementing an ISO compliant Quality Management System in an orderly fashion.
